SoxThePoet is a multi-talented creative, mentor, and activist with a keen interest in addressing societal challenges such as inequality, oppression, conflict, and poverty from a youth perspective. He is a versatile writer with a nuanced understanding of the political, economic, cultural, and social context in Zimbabwe and beyond, and is driven by a desire to make the world a better place. His art is designed to inform and engage both those in positions of power and the general public, with the goal of producing work that is both thought-provoking and impactful. SoxThePoet is an accomplished creative who has led writing workshops for aspiring authors and released his debut album "Shards" in 2022. In addition to performing at various local and international festivals, he has also produced 4 poetic films and 1 documentary, and has been nominated for 4 awards from the Bulawayo Arts Awards. In 2021, he was recognized on the 50 under 30 Gumiguru Emerging Influential Leaders list, a testament to his impact and influence as a creative. His work is diverse, innovative, and thought-provoking, and he shows no signs of slowing down In addition to his creative work, SoxThePoet has also worked as a community podcasting studio manager and hosted several podcasts. He has been involved in projects that promote accountability, youth inclusion, social accountability, and constitutionalism. He is a film fellow with the Accountability Lab Zimbabwe, a training alumnus of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Youth Leadership Program, and a content manager and radio co-host. As a mentor, he has worked with 6 female poets under the WeCre8te project, demonstrating his commitment to empowering and uplifting others. SoxThePoet, whose legal name is Sondlane N. Dube, holds a BSc degree in Politics and Public Management with Honors from the Midlands State University. Driven by his passion for social justice, he is dedicated to using his poetry and advocacy to create positive change in society. He believes that art has the power to transform lives and create a more just and equitable world for all.
